Linda Wozniak, Director of the InteRACT program, was recently interviewed on CBC Information Morning. The InteRACT program runs during the summer months and works with those individuals experiencing aphasia. A key component of the program is the use of Recreation Therapy which isn't offered in many other InteRACT programs. The TRAAC Board of Directors is excited to officially unveil the following definition of therapeutic recreation which was adopted at our last board meeting!
 
The Therapeutic Recreation Association of Atlantic Canada defines therapeutic recreation using the following statement:       
  
Leisure, recreation and play are essential to health and wellness. Focusing on people’s strengths, therapeutic recreation engages people in a systematic process through which leisure is used as a primary tool in achieving health and wellness.

Attention all TRAAC and Joint TRAAC/CTRA Members! TRAAC and NSRPH are excited to be co-hosting the national CTRA Conference 2012 in Halifax, NS! They are currently looking for volunteers to help out on the following conference planning committees: Program Planning, Local Arrangements, and Budget and Finance. CTRA presented TRAAC with the Supportive Agency Award in Hamilton, Ontario on June 11, 2010. The Supportive Agency Award is presented to an agency or organization that has demonstrated exceptional support of the therapeutic recreation practitioners employed at their agency, and in doing so, the field itself.
